The good part: it works and it is fairly accurate. I would say surprisingly accurate given the price and the specs.
I have tested it with a known 1Gohm resistor and the reading was in the expected range given the rated tolerance of the resistor and accuracy of the meter. The voltage at the probes (measured with a fairly well calibrated meter) was the expected value, within the tolerance of my meter. The AC voltage reading is again very close to what my trusted Fluke reads.
From a precision perspective I have absolutely no complaints - especially since the main purpose is determining if there is an insulation breakdown, and the exact value is less important.
